MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord and Charleston are tied in the MEC standings with 10 points, with Concord having played one more game.Â
Charleston stands at 3-1-2 overall, with a 3-0-1 record in conference play. Concord is now 3-2-1 on the year with a 3-1-1 mark in conference play.Â
Concord suffered its first loss of conference play against West Virginia Wesleyan and in the process, snapped a 378 minute scoreless streak.Â
The Mountain Lions had accumulated three straight shut outs against Urbana, Shepherd, and Fairmont State before playing the Bobcats.Â
While CU has allowed 81 total shots on the season, only 36 of those have been on goal.Â
CU faces a tough test in its next four games, with matchups against UC, Notre Dame, West Liberty, and an away fixture at West Virginia Wesleyan.
The four teams have a combined 10-1-6 record in MEC play this season.Â
Freshman forward
Megan Walsh is currently tied for first in the Mountain East Conference in game-winning goals with two.Â
Sophomore goalkeeper
Emily Simpkins marks one of just five goalkeepers in the MEC with a goals allowed average of less than one.
The Linthicum Heights, Maryland native has allowed an average of 0.994 goals a game this season while tending the net for Concord.   Â
She is also tied for second in the MEC in shutouts with three to her name this season.Â
Charleston and Concord played two close games last season, with the two teams tying 1-1 in Charleston and Concord suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat in Athens.Â
Sophomore defender
Joanna Aiello had two shots on goal for CU in the tie.Â
Simpkins amassed six saves over 110 minutes to help Concord earn a point in that game.Â
CU holds a 14-6-2 series lead all-time over Charleston. However, Charleston has won five out of the past six meetings.Â
Concord has assisted three of its four goals this season.Â
SCOUTING CHARLESTON
The Golden Eagles have given up one goal or less in five of their six games this season.Â
Rachel Neff and Ivey Nucilli have each netted four goals this season.Â
Marieke Kramer has scored two goals and two assists, while UC has had four more players with one goal apiece.Â
Charleston has allowed five goals all season.
