HICKORY, N.C. - The Concord University women's soccer team lost 5-0 to nationally-ranked, eighth-rated Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
 
The Mountain Lions (0-2) had the first chance of the game as sophomore forward Alana Ferguson took a shot just 63 seconds into the contest.
 
After L-R (1-1) went up 2-0 in the 19^th minute, Concord nearly cut the deficit in half in the 20^th minute as junior midfielder Stephanie Tovar had a shot saved. It was Lenoir-Rhyne that built a three-goal lead at halftime.
 
Ferguson, Tovar and junior defender Ella Rowell each had three shots in the game. Rowell and Tovar combined for three of CU's shots on goal.
 
Junior goalkeeper Maddie Loughborough recorded four saves. Senior goalkeeper Kayla Garza stopped three shots in the second half.
 
The Mountain Lions' next game is the first Mountain East Conference game, at Charleston 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6.
