ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University Women's basketball team continues its Mountain East Conference slate when it hosts Glenville State on Wednesday at home before traveling up to Buckhannon,West Virginia to take on West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.Â

Concord's record stands at 1-4 (0-2 MEC) on the season, while Glenville State enters the matchup at 3-1 (1-1 MEC).Â
West Virginia Wesleyan is 2-2 (2-0 MEC). Â
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Junior forward
Heather Chapman compiled her first career double-double in the Maroon and Gray after compiling 21 points and 10 rebounds in Concord's matchup against West Virginia State in Athens.Â
The Summerville, South Carolina native scored 21 points in just 22 minutes, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.Â
Chapman also went 9-for-11 from the free throw line.Â
The big day for Chapman helped Concord score its most points in a game since January 30, 2016 and was the first double-double for a Mountain Lion player since
Kylie Molisee notched 11 points and 11 rebounds in the first round of the MEC tournament at Fairmont State on March 1.
STARTING OFF FAST
In Concord's first two Mountain East Conference matchups, the Mountain Lions jumped out to a 14- point lead in the first half against West Virginia State, while CU took a 17-point halftime lead against Charleston two days later.Â
In the first quarter against West Virginia State, Concord shot a staggering 15-for-19 from the field while hitting both of its three point attempts and racing out to a 33-23 lead after 10 minutes of play.Â
In Concord's first half against the Golden Eagles, Concord shot 63 percent while going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.Â
SCORING INSIDE
Over the past two games, Concord has combined to score 68 points in the paint.Â
Junior center
Alley Odell and Chapman each had strong performances, with Chapman's aforementioned double-double against West Virginia State, while Odell notched 12 points and seven rebounds while shooting 6-for-9 from the field.Â
Freshman forward
Madison May also chipped in seven points for CU against Charleston while adding three rebounds.
WINNING IN OVERTIME
Against the Bobcats last season in Athens, Concord held on for a 73-70 overtime victory to earn it's second conference win of the season.Â
Good games from sophomore guard
Emily Boothe and junior guard
Danielle Catron helped propel the Mountain Lions to the win, as Catron poured in 15 points, while Boothe scored 12 points in the win.Â
Concord's defensive effort in the first half helped stave off a furious West Virginia Wesleyan rally in the third and fourth quarters to win the game in overtime, as the Mountain Lions held the Bobcats to just 25.9 percent shooting in the first twenty minutes of play.    Â
SCOUTING GLENVILLE STATE
Glenville State has gotten off to a 3-1 start under first year head coach Kim Stephens, with the Pioneers only loss a four-point defeat to Fairmont State on the road.Â
The Pioneers are second in the MEC in scoring at 92.2 points per game, but rank tenth in scoring defense, allowing their opponents to score 79.0 points per game.Â
Paris McLeod (16.0 ppg), Julie Bishop (12.8 ppg), and Brittany Jackson (12.8 ppg) all average double figures for GSC.  Â
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
First year head coach Vicki Bullett has West Virginia Wesleyan at 2-2 on the season, with an unblemished 2-0 record in MEC play.Â
The Bobcats earned two wins over preseason MEC favorite Fairmont State and Shepherd at home.Â
Mari Stewart leads the Bobcats in scoring at 16.3 points per game, seventh in the MEC.Â
Rachel Vandertoolen (14.5 ppg), and Tara Goldman (10.8 ppg), are also scoring in double figures for WVWC.
Vandertoolen also has shot 48.9% from the field this season, good for fifth in the MEC.   Â
