CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – In front of a capacity crowd at Robert C. Byrd High School, the Concord University women's basketball team played an exhibition game against West Virginia University, losing 104-48.
All the proceeds from the game went directly to those affected by the devastating floods in central and southern West Virginia in late June.
"It's always an honor for us to play West Virginia, and it's more important this time around with everything going to the flood victims. While we weren't affect in Mercer County, I told our kids before the game you might be sitting beside someone in class that was affected."
WVU, the 22
nd-ranked team in Division I and the preseason fourth-ranked team in the Big 12 Conference, outscored CU 28-4 in the first quarter.
It was the second time in four seasons that the Mountain Lions played West Virginia in an exhibition. In the previous contest with WVU, Concord only scored 26 points.

Alexis Lowery led all scorers in the contest with 19 points including five makes from three-point range while junior forward
Heather Chapman scored nine points. Sophomore guard

Alley Odell each added six points for CU.
The Mountaineers were led by Lanay Montgomery and Teana Muldrow who each had 16 points in the game.
Concord opens the regular season in Fairmont, West Virginia against Lock Haven 2:00 p.m. November 11 as part of the MEC/PSAC Challenge.
