ATHENS, W.Va. – Prior to Saturday's Homecoming football game, members of the 1966 Concord College Football team will be recognized at Callaghan Stadium.
2016 marks the 50
th anniversary of the 1966 team winning the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship as it went 9-1.
Head coach Don Williams was named the WVIAC Coach of the Year while Preston Bowes, Doug Dean, Ted Gillespie and Donald Van Deusen were selected as All-WVIAC performers.
Additionally, Dean was a NAIA Second Team All-American during the 1966 season.
The ceremony recognizing the 1966 team on its Golden Anniversary will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
