Concord Travels to Gannon-Mercyhurst Invite

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team will play at the Gannon-Mercyhurst Invitational this weekend in hopes of improving its record on the season.

SCHEDULE
Friday: Concord will play 5:00 p.m. IUP Friday and Mercyhurst 7:00 p.m. Friday at Mercyhurst.

Saturday: The Mountain Lions will travel across town in Erie, Pennsylvania to take on Edinboro at 12:00 p.m. and Gannon at 4:00 p.m.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Concord is coming off a 1-1 home triangular Tuesday at the Carter Center where it fell to Bluefield College in five sets before defeating Southern Virginia in four sets to pick up its first win of the season.

• Freshman outside hitter Alexi Pranckus recorded a double-double in kills and digs during both weekday matches.

• Against BC, the Tinley Park, Illinois native had 11 kills and 15 digs before returning to have a career-high 15 kills and 16 digs in the nightcap.

• Sophomore middle hitter Alexis Elliott spiked down a personal-best 16 kills against Bluefield College and also had two double-doubles on Tuesday.

• Freshman setter Jayden Jacobs assisted on 29 kills versus SVU to set a career-high in assists. The Ona, West Virginia native also had 27 assists against BC to notch her first career 20-assist match.

• Despite the loss, freshman middle hitter Brooke Heck was instrumental in CU's loss to BC as she became the first Concord player to record 20 kills in a match this season.

• In the two matches, Heck hit a staggering .471 as she only committed five errors in 53 chances.

• This weekend, the Mountain Lions will be seeking its first win against Edinboro and IUP as they are 0-5 combined against the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools.

• Meanwhile, CU will be meeting Gannon and Mercyhurst for the first time dating back to 2005.

• In her last 20 matches, dating back to last season sophomore setter Casey Mandeville has tallied 10 or more assists in 15 matches including a career-high 27 assists against Southern Virginia.

SCOUTING IUP
• The Crimson Hawks are 4-2 this season and have already played a pair of Mountain East Conference teams in Notre Dame and Shepherd.

• IUP defeated NDC in five sets, but dropped a five-set match to the Rams.

• Alexis Anderson leads IUP with 97 kills and 16 blocks this season.

SCOUTING MERCYHURST
• MU is 2-6 this season as it has defeated Ursuline and Cedarville this season.

• Both of the Lakers' win came in three sets.

• Erin Byrnes has 83 kills and 68 digs for Mercyhurst.

SCOUTING EDINBORO
• The Fighting Scots knocked off CU at the Hall of Fame City Challenge in three sets to begin the season.

• EU's Challen Litwiler had 11 kills and 11 digs against the Mountain Lions the first time the teams met.

• Edinboro is 6-1 this season.

SCOUTING GANNON
• The Golden Knights boast a record of 4-2 as three of four its wins have come in three sets.

• Hannah Kren has racked up 73 kills for GU while Lauren Beck has 20 kills.
