MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• CU suffered a setback with a 29-21 loss at Charleston in what was the Division II Game of the Week last week.

• Senior running back Calvinaugh Jones rushed for a season-high 125 yards and a touchdown in what was the first 100-yard rushing performance of the season for the Glen Burnie, Maryland native.

• Jones stands 329 yards away from breaking the all-time rushing record in Concord history.

• Additionally, the senior tailback needs just 141 yards to eclipse 4,000 for his career, and would become the third Mountain Lion to accomplish the feat  joining Chris Hairston and Brian Kennedy.

• Jones also needs eight more carries to have the most rushing attempts in Concord lore.

• Against UC, senior defensive back Derrick Johnson racked up a season-best 10 tackles while junior linebacker Denis Ikic matched his personal-high with eight stops versus the Golden Eagles.

• The Mountain Lions start week six of the Mountain East Conference slate in a tie for fifth place with West Virginia State.

• Fast starts have been a key for Concord this season as it has outscored its opponents 100-52 in the first half compared to just 58-40 in the second half of games.

• Furthermore, the Mountain Lions are 3-0 when they score first this season but are 0-2 when the opponent scores first.

• Heading into this week's game junior quarterback Brian Novak needs one more touchdown to notch 50 for his career.

• And this may be a good week for Novak to accomplish the milestone as UVa.-Wise's pass defense ranks 11th in the MEC, giving up 305 yards per game through the air.
in his previous four homecomings, head coach Garin Justice has never lost.

• In fact, Concord has outscored its opponents 136-53 under Justice's guidance on Homecoming.

• Jones has saved some of his best performances for Homecoming as he has racked up over 100 yards rushing in each of his three previous homecoming games and is averaging 167 yards on the ground to go with three touchdowns on Homecoming Saturday.

• Senior kicker Andy Ellington also has a knack for clutch performances on Homecoming.

• The Winfield, West Virginia native has made field goals of 33, 40, 47, 48 and 52 yards in three Homecoming games with only one miss.

• The 52-yard boot he hit last year tied his own school record.

• Last season versus Urbana on Homecoming, CU cruised to a 50-20 win over the Blue Knights.

• Novak threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns in the win as two of his scores went to sophomore wide receiver TJ Smith.

• Fellow sophomore wid receiver Jermeil Douse also racked up the most receiving yards in his career against Urbana with 155.

• Since the formation of the MEC, the Mountain Lions have won both matchups with UVa.-Wise and own a 4-2 all-time edge on the Cavaliers.

• In the two conference clashes, Concord has outscored UVa.-Wise 74-19 including a 44-6 win two years ago and a 30-13 road victory last season.

• Senior defensive end Ervin Moore was a menace to the UVa.-Wise offense last year as the Lancaster, South Carolina native recorded seven tackles, four tackles for loss, forced and recovered a fumble on a sack and added a second sack.

• Heading into Saturday's game Moore needs three sacks to reach 20 for his Concord career.

• In two career games versus the Cavaliers, Moore has tallied 12 tackles, eight TFLs, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three sacks.

• Before the two teams renwed their series prior to the 2013 season, the last time Concord play UVa.-Wise was 2007 which was one of the two wins in the all-time series by the Cavaliers, a 35-28 victory.

• Including Saturday's game, five of the seven all-time meetings between the teams have been played at CU.

• Sophomore running back Jamal Petty rushed for a then-career 125 yards, and senior wide receiver Tiko Henderson recorded his fifth career 100-yard receiving game with 101 yards and a touchdown reception in last season's win.

• Last season, the Concord defense held the Cavaliers to 236 yards and in the last two meetings, UVa.-Wise is averaging 221 yards of total offense.

• In two meeetings, the Mountain Lions have forced seven turnovers including sophomore defensive back Jeremiah Johnson picking off a pass last season

• Ever since being held under 100 yards rushing to start the season at West Liberty, the CU ground game has averaged 199 yards rushing.

SCOUTING UVA.-WISE
• However, the Cavaliers possess the league's best rushing defense as they have only given up 78.0 yards per game on the ground.

• The stout run defense has been spearheaded by linebacker Zack Blair who is second in the conference in tackles with 54.

• Blair is also second in the league in tackles for loss, racking up an impressive 14 through five games.

• Offensively, the Cavaliers have struggled to run the ball this season with only 65.8 yards rushing per contest, but wide receiver Terrance Younger boasts a serious threat in the passing game.

• Younger is second in the league in receiving yards per game with 109.2 and is also fourth in the MEC in touchdown receptions with five.

A CONCORD WIN WOULD...
• A Concord win would give Concord three straight wins over the Cavaliers.

• A Concord win woud make it seven straight wins on Homecoming, a streak that extends back to 2009.
