Concord Goes Into Matchup With Notre Dame

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University women's soccer team will look to get back to winning ways when it host Notre Dame on Saturday at the YMCA soccer complex in Beckley, W.Va.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

RECORDS
Concord goes into the matchup 3-3-3, after a draw on the road at Charleston and a loss at home to West Liberty in their last two games.

Notre dame enters with a 5-3-1 record after falling to Charleston 1-0 on the road and defeating Fairmont State at home 3-2. Concord is currently in a three way tie for fifth in the conference with eight points, while Notre Dame sits in third with 13 points.     

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Senior forward Kari Simon has moved into a tie for sixth place all-time with Katie Cuviello on Concord's points list with 73. 

• Simon is also sixth on the all-time goals list with 31 to date in her career so far. 

• Freshman goalkeeper Emily Simpkins has accumulated 46 saves on the year to move her into eighth all-time in career saves at Concord.   

• Concord's 14 goals have been scored by seven different players this season. Simon (six), freshman forward Pilar Elias (three), junior forward Emily Cole (one), sophomore midfielder Sarah Akers (one), junior midfielder Margot Provencher (one), senior defender Samantha Wood (one), and freshman defender Katelyn Gibbs (one).

• Nine of Concord's 14 goals have come in the second half. 

• Concord has only conceded eight goals through their first nine games, an average of 0.89 goals per game.

• The eight goals that Concord have conceded mark an improvement defensively as the Mountain Lions gave up 14 goals through the first nine games last year. 

• The Mountain Lions tied the Falcons last season at Anderson Field 1-1. Simon equalized for Concord in the 66th minute to split the points with NDC. 

• Concord has tied in two of their three games on turf this season. 

SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
• Notre Dame has scored 11 goals this season, and has also conceded 11 goals. 

• Jillian Doss leads the Falcons in goals with four total on the season.  Seven additional Falcons have also found the back of the net at least once for Notre Dame this season.
