RECORDS• Concord is tied for seventh with UVa.-Wise and Glenville State at 4-6 in the league standing. Overall, the Mountain Lions are 4-11.
• UVa.-Wise has a record of 5-11 overall and 4-6 in the Mountain East Conference.
• Along with being 4-6 in the MEC, Glenville State has posted a record of 6-8 overall.
THE COACHES• Concord's
Kenny Osborne is 204-207 in his 15 seasons in Athens.
• Kristin Kunzman has compiled a record of 32-71 in her four seasons at UVa.-Wise.
• Glenville State's Charles Marshall is 35-12 in his brief two seasons in charge of the Pioneers.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES• The Mountain Lions snapped a seven-game losing streak by downing West Virginia State, 60-59, Saturday on the road.
• After not playing for over a month, junior forward
Kylie Molisee returned to score 13 points and grab seven rebounds off the bench.
• In her last two games, Molisee is averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
• Her post partner, sophomore center
Alley Odell took her game to the next level in the absence of Molisee, but has also continued progressing with the return of Molisee.
• Odell is averaging 10.7 points per game (ppg) over her last four contests which is more than five points higher than her season average.
• On Monday versus Bluefield State, senior forward
Jacqueline Kestner passed
Andrea Bertrand for ninth on the all-time rebounding list. Kestner also tied former CU assistant coach Jamie Cluesman for eighth on the career rebounds list at 536.
• For the season, Kestner is second in the Mountain East Conference in the rebounds per game (rpg) at 9.8.
• Kestner is getting nearly a third of her boards on the offensive glass as she ranks fifth in offensive rebounding (3.1 rpg).
• Speaking of the career record book, senior forward
Rachel Artrip continues to climb the ranks in the made three-pointers list.
• By making six shots from behind the arc in her last two games, including tying her season high with four against West Virginia State, Artrip tied Christina Plutz for eighth all-time (106).
• Artrip can pass Blaire Hamric for seventh all-time by sinking three more three-point field goals.
• On the road versus Bluefield State, Artrip had the best rebounding game of her career as she pulled down a personal-best 13 rebounds.
• Freshman guard
Danielle Catron helped power the Mountain Lion offensive attack in the win over West Virginia State as she earned her first start of the season, scoring 11 points.
• Catron has established herself as one of the most efficient shooters on the Concord squad as she is shooting 50 percent (35-for-70) from the field this season.
• Earlier this season, CU outlasted Glenville State on the road, 104-96.
• It was the first time the Mountain Lions had topped the century mark in over three season.
• Kestner scored a career-high 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting in the road victory.
• The Blountville, Tennesee native wasn't the only Mountain Lion to record a career best as senior guard
Melea Smith tallied a game-high 29 points on 13-for-25 shooting.
• Sophomore guard
Olivia Morgan joined the personal-best scoring club against the Pioneers with 13 points and eight assists.
• Morgan begins the weekend ranked fifth in the conference in assists per game (3.1).
• UVa.-Wise enters the matchup with Concord coming off a gut-wrenching overtime loss to Charleston.
• UVa.-Wise's Blair Harding is fourth in the MEC in scoring (16.7 ppg) while also finding her name third in made three-pointers (43), fifth in three-point shooting percentage (.331) and 10th in field goal percentage (.366).
• The Cavaliers are one of the best teams in the league at shutting down the three-point threat, ranking third in three-point defense (.282).
• Meanwhile, CU's opponent on Saturday, Glenville State, is one the best offensive teams in the MEC, averaging 77.8 ppg which is second.
• The Pioneers are led by Keyanna Tate, who is second in the conference in scoring (18.6 ppg).
• Glenville State will bring its unorthodox style of play into Saturday's game that features relentless full-court pressure and frequent substitutions.
• The Pioneers average a league-high 11.2 steals per game.
• Tate (eighth / 1.6) and Brittany Jackson (15th / 1.4) are in the top 15 in the conference in steals per game.
• While Glenville State has the second-best scoring defense in the league, the Pioneers have the worst scoring defense as they give up 79.8 points per game. Â
A CONCORD WIN WOULD...• A Concord win over UVa.-Wise would give CU its third straight win over the Cavaliers dating back to last season.
• A Concord win over Glenville State would be the first regular season sweep for Concord over GSC since the 2011-2012 season.
• A Concord win over both UVa.-Wise and Glenville State would get CU back to .500 (6-6) in conference play.
