ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team will play its final road game of the 2013-14 regular season 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when it takes on the University Charleston at the Eddie King Gymnasium in Charleston, W. Va. in Mountain East Conference competition.

Records and Standings
Concord enters its last regular season road contest of the year ranked 11th in the league standings at 8-18 overall and 5-15 in MEC play.
With an overall record of 17-7 and a conference mark of 14-6, the Golden Eagles begin the final week of the regular season slotted third in the MEC standings and fourth in the initial NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rankings.
All-Time Series
Charleston leads Concord 88-46 in the all-time series which dates back to the 1922-23 season when the University of Charleston was known as Morris Harvey.
Last Meeting
The Mountain Lions shot over 51 percent from the field, but Charleston was able to defeat Concord 81-73 Jan. 9 at the Carter Center behind an 11-for-11 shooting performance by Aleksander Kesic. Junior guard
Mike Boyd went for 14 points and seven assists to pace Concord while freshman guard
Aaron Miller came off the bench to score 11 points thanks in part to a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range.
Mountain Lion Notes
The Mountain Lions rank fifth in the MEC in defensive rebounding percentage at .685 as well as sixth in both three-point percentage (.356) and points allowed (80.7 ppg).
Sophomore forward
Terry Hopewell has recorded his top two rebounding performances of the season in Concord's last three games with 13 rebounds against both W. Va. State on Feb. 15 and Feb. 22 vs. Shepherd. He also registered double-doubles in both contests after scoring 13 points against the Yellow Jackets and 20 vs. the Rams.
For the season, Hopewell ranks fifth in the MEC in blocked shots (30) and 12th in field goal percentage (53.6). The 30 blocks are the most by a CU player in a season since Romel Kemp swatted away 45 attempts in 2011-12 and tied for the second-most since 2002-03 with Tyrone Anderson (30 blocks / 2005-06).
Miller has connected on 11 of his last 22 three-point attempts over the past six games. In 17 games this season, Miller is shooting 50 percent from behind the arc on 24-for-48 shooting. The rookie sharpshooter is averaging 11.5 points per game (ppg) since Feb. 8, four points above his season average.
Since being inserted into the starting lineup 10 games ago, junior guard
Paul Byrd has shot 50.7 percent (35-for-69) from the field, 47.8 percent (11-for-23) from three-point territory while scoring 9.1 ppg and grabbing 3.9 rebounds a contest.
Boyd continues to lead the Mountain Lions in a multitude of categories including scoring (14.5 ppg), field goal percentage (53.8), free throw percentage (76.2), assists (4.2), steals (1.3) and minutes played per game (31.7).
With five assists in Concord's most recent game vs. Shepherd, Boyd moved into 10th place on Concord's career assists list. He now needs 38 assists to move into ninth place ahead of Kelly Mann (1996-98 / 383).
After producing season-lows of one point and no rebounds against Wheeling Jesuit, sophomore guard
Cam Shannon has bounced back to average 11 points and five rebounds in his last three games.
Freshman forward
Jalen Camper matched a season-high with six rebounds vs. Shepherd.
Freshman guard's
B.J. Hamlet's 1.95 made three per game ranks 15th in the MEC.
Scouting Charleston
Charleston has won four consecutive games to push itself into contention for a first round bye in the upcoming conference tournament as well as a spot among the region's top-ranked teams.
The Golden Eagles ranks second in the MEC in points allowed at just 72.0 per game.
Charleston is led by the duo of Kesic and Xavier Humphrey. Kesic currently averages 14.6 ppg and 6.4 rebounds a contest while Humphrey, the league's ninth leading scorer, has produced healthy averages of 17.1 ppg and 1.04 blocked shots a game.

The Coaches
In the midst of his third season at his alma mater,
Kent McBride is 41-41 as Concord's head coach.
Dwaine Osborne is in his first season at Charleston after spending the previous four seasons at University of Texas - Permian Basin. Osborne is 106-114 for his career.
