Ellington Selected to Academic All-District Team

ATHENS, W.Va. – Junior kicker Andy Ellington of the Concord University football team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors  of  America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday afternoon.

This is the second consecutive year Ellington has been named to the All-District team.

Ellington carries a 3.30 GPA as a business administration major and has made 12-of-17 field goal attempts along with 49-of-51 point after tries this season.

The Scott Depot, West Virginia native has made the two longest field goals in Concord history, connecting on attempt of 52 yards twice. Ellington has made the most field goals of any kicker in the Mountain East Conference (12) and the longest field goal (52) this year.

Additionally, Ellington owns the top six field goal distances in CU history and seven of the top 10 distances as well as the most made field goals (34), extra points made (104) and points by a kicker (204).

The Academic All-District team is made up of student-athletes from every level of NCAA competition as well as NAIA schools and is divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. 

Ellington and the rest of the Mountain Lions will play their final regular season home game Saturday versus Notre Dame at 12:00 p.m.
