Concord Begins MEC Slate at Notre Dame, Urbana

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team will embark on a brief three-game road trip to open up Mountain East Conference play at Notre Dame 2:00 p.m. Saturday and at Urbana 5:30 p.m. Monday.

RECORDS
• Concord will be in search of its first win of the season after dropping a pair of contests, 69-56 versus Shaw and 57-45 against Fayetteville State, at the MEC-CIAA Challenge November 14-15.

• NDC is 1-1 heading into the first weekend of MEC play after defeating Mercyhurst and losing to California (Pa.).

• Like Concord, Urbana is 0-2 on the year.

SCOUTING CONCORD
Crashing the Boards

• The Mountain Lions have recorded 81 rebounds through the first two games of the season after snatching 36 against Shaw and 45 versus Fayetteville State.

• It was the first time Concord  had 80 or more rebounds over a two-game span since grabbing 81 combined versus Glenville State(46)  and West Virginia Wesleyan (35) Jan. 25 and 30 last season.

Setting Career Highs
• Concord's rebounding effort in the first two games was led by senior forward Jacqueline Kestener who had a career-high 14 rebounds against Shaw and followed it up with 10 versus Fayetteville State.

• Kestner registered double-doubles in both contests with 14 points and 14 rebounds against SU and 14 points and 10 rebounds versus Fayetteville.

• Dating back to last season, Kestner has double-digit rebounds in four of her last six contests.

• The Blountville, Tennessee native is second in the MEC in rebounds per game (12.0).

Impressive Debut
• Junior forward Kylie Molisee began her Mountain Lion career with 16 points and seven rebounds versus Shaw.

• Heading into this weekend, Molisee is in the top 20 in the MEC in both scoring and rebounding. The Peck, Kansas native is averaging 12 points per game (19th) and seven rebounds per contest (13th).

Sophomore Sensation
• After starting the last five games of last season, sophomore Olivia Morgan began the 2014-15 season as Concord's starting point guard.

• Morgan is averaging 8.5 points per game, four rebounds per game and five assists per game through two games.

• The Richmond, Virginia is tied for first in the conference in assists per game.
Aerial Assault by Artrip
• Last season in the first meeting between Concord and Urbana, senior forward Rachel Artrip scored 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field 3-for-6 from three-point range.

• Later in the season last year, Artrip scored a career-high 31 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field against UU.

NOTRE DAME NOTES
• Martha Nagbe is averaging 18 points per game for the Falcons this season, sixth-best in the MEC.

• Last season versus CU, Nagbe averaged 23.5 points in two games.

• NDC is the third-best team in the league at shooting the three-point ball (12-for-31), which is spearheaded by Jessica Garcia (3-for-7).

• The Falcons are tied with Fairmont State in rebounding margin at +9.5.

URBANA NOTES
• The Blue Knights are led by Kate Francisco who is averaging 11 points and seven rebounds per game.

• UU is coached by first-year head coach Haley Ducey.
UP NEXT
• Concord will travel to Glenville State December 4 to complete its road trip.
