Weitzel ran a time of 9:37.24 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Fred Hardy Invite to break a six-year-old school record. Additionally, Weitzel's steeplechase time placed him second in the event, and Weitzel's time is the fastest in the Mountain East Conference by over 30 seconds this season.
