Stephanie Harper-Bennett begins her third season as an assistant coach for the Concord University softball team on head coach Alisa Tasler’s staff.
In her first season as an assistant coach, Harper helped lead Concord to a historic season in 2014. The Mountain Lions won a school-record 31 games and spent the majority of the season ranked among the top eight teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
In 2014, Harper-Bennett assisted an offense that set school records in runs scored (270), RBI (241), hits (426), doubles (73), home runs (46) and walks (120) as well as a pitching staff that produced Concord bests in shutouts (nine), innings pitched (356.1) and strikeouts (243).
Harper helped coach three players to All-Mountain East Conference recognition in Lauren Lewis, Alyssa Morris and Kristen Rose.
Prior to entering the coaching profession, Harper-Bennett was a standout player for the Mountain Lions from 2010-13. In 176 games, Harper, who earned All-WVIAC honors as a senior, hit .298 with a .344 on-base percentage, 61 runs scored, five home runs and 90 RBI. As a pitcher, Harper went 10-10 with 55 strikeouts in 117.1 innings pitched.
Harper-Bennett still ranks second in Concord career history in doubles (37), second in games played (176) third in hits (156), fourth in total bases (231), fifth in RBI (90) and eighth in relief appearances.
While at Concord, Harper-Bennett will work towards earning her master’s degree in Health Promotion. She earned her bachelor’s degree from CU in 2013.
Harper-Bennett married Concord academic GRIP coordinator Justin Bennett in the summer of 2015.
