Meg Williams of the Concord University volleyball team have been selected as the Mountain East Conference Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The MEC Athlete of the Week is presented by The Health Plan.
Davis was voted as the MEC Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.3 digs per set across four matches for the Mountain Lions. She played in all 16 sets for CU during the week as Concord went 2-2. The Jonesborough, Tennessee native had her second 20-dig match of the young season with 20 digs in a sweep of Roosevelt Friday. In the very next match Friday, Davis added 19 digs to go with six assists in four sets of action versus Shepherd.
Williams, a native of Shady Spring, West Virginia, is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week after rolling up 3.6 kills per set in 16 sets. She added three double-doubles—kills and digs—to help out the Concord defense. Williams had a season-best 21 kills to go with a .300 hitting percentage versus Shepherd—it was Williams' eighth career 20-kill match. Earlier on Friday, Williams went for 16 kills in a sweep of Roosevelt. In CU's win at Ferrum, Williams notched 10 kills and 11 digs.
The Mountain Lions travel to Pikeville 6:00 p.m. Wednesday before hosting the Concord Classic Friday and Saturday at the Carter Center.
