BELLE VERNON, Pa. – The Concord University women's golf team placed sixth at the Cal Vulcan Invite that wrapped up Friday and became a 36-hole tournament after weather derailed the originally-scheduled 54-hole tournament.
Concord recorded team rounds of 342 and 331 at Cedarbrook Golf Course for a two-round score of 673.
Freshman
Riley Bush paced Concord with a top-10 finish after rounds of 82 and 73—her score of 155 was good enough for 10
th, and the 73 during the second round was the lowest by any Mountain Lion. She had a birdie on each nine during the second round, scoring a red number of a pair of par 5s—the second and the 13
th holes.
Sophomore
Kendra Lugo was two shots behind Bush as she tied for 11
th with a score of 155 (75, 82). Lugo had a total of five red numbers, birdying the par-3, third hole both days, and adding a birdie on the par-3, 5
th hole and par-5, 13
th during the first round. Lugo finished the front nine with a birdie in round two. Lugo's 75 was a career best round.
Junior
Sara Matos Tamargo scored rounds of 88 and 91. Fellow junior Alley Denny was three strokes behind with rounds of 97 and 85. Sophomore
Reagan Friel shot 101 and 104 while freshman
Bailee Thompson shot a 94 during the second round.
West Chester won the team title by five shots over Jefferson. Brooklyn Millard of Jefferson was the medalist after rounds of 70 and 69. She was eight shots clear of the rest of the field.
The Mountain Lions are back in action September 9-10 at the University of Charleston'
