BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan in straight sets Tuesday night in a Mountain East Conference matchup inside the Rockefeller Center.

The Mountain Lions never trailed in the first and third sets, and wasn't threatened in the middle game.
CU scored eight of the first ten points of the match as junior right side
Maddie Stull contributed an assisted block and a kill in the early success. Senior outside hitter
Meg Williams tossed in a service ace and a kill. The Mountain Lions put Wesleyan away in the middle part of the opening set as they cracked off a 6-1 run to go up 19-9.
In the closing set, the Maroon and Gray blitzed out to a 7-1 edge behind kills from Stull, senior middle hitter
Jasmine Anderson and senior outside hitter
Chloe Thompson as well as a service ace from senior libero
Allie Davis. WVWC closed to within two points three times, 14-12, 18-16 and 21-19, but Concord countered with a pair of Williams' kills to move within two points of match point before Anderson and Williams teamed up on a block to secure the sweep.
Similar to the bookend sets, CU opened the second set on a 7-2 run. However, Wesleyan came back to tie the set at 9-9. Concord responded by scoring six of the next eight points that ended with a Williams kill. And the Mountain Lions kept Wesleyan at arm's length for the remainder of the set.
Williams was the only Concord player with double-digit kills as she went for 13 kills on a .333 hitting percentage. Stull tied her career high with eight blocks to go with eight kills. Anderson matched Stull's block total while sophomore middle hitter
Addie Adkins threw in six blocks.
Senior setter
Paige Richmond tallied 18 assists while fellow senior setter
Haley Sweeney registered 11 assists.
Senior libero
Allie Davis racked up 16 digs, and will need six digs next time out to break Concord's all-time program record for digs, currently held by Kathy Dickson (1990-93) at 1,948. Â
