EXTERMINATING THE HIVEÂ
Concord captured a monumental victory by defeating the Yellow Jackets on the road for the first time in 10 years. Senior outside hitter Meg Williams fueled the offensive attack with a match-high 18 kills to lead the Maroon and Grey charge. Junior right side hitter Maddie Stull provided crucial support right behind her, chipping in 13 kills to secure the historic conference win.Â
SEEKING REVENGE ON THE ROADÂ
The Mountain Lions head into this matchup looking to settle the score on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan. Last season, Concord dropped a tough four-set decision away from home to the Bobcats, but bounced back with a thrilling five-set victory at the Carter Center. Eager to flip the script in Buckhannon, Concord is locked in as they hunt for a crucial road win against WVWC.Â
DOMINATING DEFENSE
Concord boasts a stunning defensive presence anchored by senior libero Allie Davis, who paces the back row and ranks second in the Mountain East with 4.98 digs per set. Senior middle hitter Jasmine Anderson spearheads the defense at the net, also sitting second in the MEC with 1.17 blocks per set. The Mountain Lions' defense will face a massive test this week, however, as they go head-to-head with three of the conference's premier offensive threats in kills per set: Bhrooke Axe for the Bobcats, alongside Juliana Nunez and Gracie Brown for the Pioneers.Â
PROTECTING THE CARTER CENTERÂ
Returning to the friendly confines of the Carter Center, the Mountain Lions look to build upon last year's success against these opponents. Concord swept both home matchups against WVWC and Glenville State last season. The five-set victory against WVWC saw four Mountain Lions rack up 10 or more kills. The Maroon and Grey are fully prepared to defend their home floor and keep that winning streak alive.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
West Virginia Wesleyan comes into the matchup relying heavily on the explosive play of middle blocker Bhrooke Axe, who anchors the net and paces the Bobcats' offense. Defensively, libero Zoey Hopkins leads the back row, providing stability and steady dig numbers to slow down opposing attacks.Â
Glenville State heads into the contest led by the dynamic duo of Juliana Nunez and Gracie Brown. Brown stars in the Pioneer offense and defense as a primary weapon in kills and digs, while Nunez brings critical points and high-level play at the net to power Glenville State's conference push.
