FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Senior outside hitter
Chloe Thompson of the Concord University volleyball team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Thompson, a native of Cool Ridge, West Virginia, earns her first weekly accolade of the season after a strong week on the offensive side of the net that saw CU go 4-1.
During the week, Thompson recorded 2.7 kills per set across 17 sets while posting a .175 hitting percentage. She started the stretch with back-to-back matches of eight kills, including hitting .615 in a sweep of Davis & Elkins. On Friday evening, Thompson had a season-best 13 kills in a four-set win over Elizabeth City State. And to close her week, the veteran outside hitter went for eight kills and nine digs in a sweep of Mercer County rival Bluefield State Saturday afternoon.
Fairmont State's Grace Devall was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Thompson and the Mountain Lions close a five-match homestand when they host Bluefield State 7:00 p.m. Wednesday inside the Carter Center.
