Tanaka Tabbed MEC Defensive Player of the Week

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Junior goalkeeper Iori Tanaka of the Concord University men's soccer team has been named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Tanaka started in between the posts for the Mountain Lions in their first two contests of the season, allowing no goals and racking up seven saves.
 
This is the first time since the 2019 season that Concord has started the year with back-to-back clean sheets.
 
The Kyoto, Japan native helped guide the Maroon and Gray to a 2-0 victory over Virginia State and a 0-0 draw against Chowan. Six of his seven saves for the week came against VSU.
 
Inzaghi Harmon of Frostburg State was named the MEC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
The Mountain Lions open conference play on the road against Charleston Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
