ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's cross country and track & field trio of junior Piper Doughton, sophomore Cassidy Hammonds and junior Meagan Poticher have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District, the organization released Tuesday afternoon.

Doughton, a native of Stanleytown, Virginia, has a perfect 4.0 GPA through six semesters of undergraduate work as a business administration major. Doughton has been on the All-Mountain East Conference Academic Team six times between her work on the track and during the cross country season. Additionally, she has found herself on the Concord Dean's List all six semesters of college. Doughton was top 50 in the Atlantic Region in both the 10,000-meters (47th/43:34) and 3,000-meter steeplechase (48th/13:07). Her time in the 10,000-meter was a personal record that was run during the first outdoor meet of the season.

Hammonds caps her sophomore season with Tuesday's academic announcement. On the oval, the Lee, Virginia native successfully defended her Mountain East Conference heptathlon title by winning the event for a second year in a row. And she was named All-Atlantic Region in the heptathlon for the second consecutive season as well. Hammonds was All-MEC Second Team in the javelin, adding to her accolades. During the indoor season, Hammonds broke three school records at the MEC Championships, setting marks in the long jump (5.71 meters), 60-meter hurdles (9.27 seconds) and the pentathlon (3,369 points). In the classroom, she has a 3.76 GPA as a health science major. Hammonds has appeared on both the Concord Dean's List and the MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

During her junior season, Poticher, a native of Charmco, West Virginia, qualified for the discus and javelin at the MEC Outdoor Championships, finishing top 12 in the conference in both. Her javelin throw of 30.37 meters at the Charlotte 49er Classic was top 50 in the Atlantic Region. Like Doughton, Poticher has a 4.0 GPA in the classroom as an elementary education major and is in-season year-round as she is also on the CU volleyball team. Poticher has appeared on the All-MEC Academic Team six times while earning the same six spots on the Concord Dean's List.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative GPA and be top 50 in the region in an event on the track or finish inside the top 50 of the regional cross country championship.
