SALEM, Va. – The Concord University softball team dropped an 8-0 contest to Frostburg State in the first game of the Mountain East Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon at the Moyer Sports Complex.
The Mountain Lions (26-25) had a chance to break the ice early as junior infielder
Kendall Morgan doubled to the right center gap to leadoff the game. Two batters later, sophomore utility
Kristy McCord drew a walk to put runners at first and second, but CU could not get any runs across.
Frostburg State (35-14) scored twice in the second inning.
Still down 2-0 into the fifth inning, senior catcher
Kayla Sholter led off with a single and moved to second after a walk to Morgan. However, Concord still trailed by a pair of runs.
FSU went up 6-0 in the fifth.
Along with Morgan, senior infielder
Lacie Lewis notched her team-best 14
th double of the year.
Sholter was 1-for-2 in the game.

Madison Hollis (16-9) was tagged with the loss. She pitched 4.1 innings.
The Mountain Lions go to the loser's bracket for an elimination game against Davis & Elkins 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
