MAGICAL DAY FOR MADISON
Last Friday at West Virginia State, senior pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis was a one-player wrecking crew as she drove in five of the seven runs for Concord and was the winning pitcher in a 7-4 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Hollis smacked two home runs in the doubleheader to move into the team lead for home runs with five this spring. Her five RBI were the most for a Mountain Lion in a single game this season, and she became just the fifth player with five or more RBI in a game in the last four years. The McMinnville, Tennessee native matched her single-season career high by notching her 10th career win at CU—she also had 10 wins in the circle in 2024. She also moved into a tie for third on the all-time wins list at Concord with her 28th career victory.

TURN THE JETS ON
Junior infielder Kendall Morgan heads into the weekend with five stolen bases in her last five games. Her stolen base in the second game of the Charleston doubleheader was her 20th of the season as she became one of three players in program history with 20 or more stolen bases in a single season. The single-season program record for steals is Kylee Stacy's 26 from the 2024 season. Morgan ranks third in the MEC in stolen bases. The King George, Virginia native has also vaulted into the top 10 in program history in stolen bases with 36, good enough for ninth.

RACK UP THE RUNS
Concord has won 12 of the last 14 meetings against Wheeling dating back to the 2018 season. In the 12 wins, the Mountain Lions' average winning margin is 5.6 runs per game as Concord has outscored the Cardinals, 98-35 in the last five games. Senior outfielder Alina Giles, senior infielder Lacie Lewis and Morgan all homered in last year's doubleheader sweep of Wheeling as CU piled up 25 runs across two games. Giles was 3-for-6 in the doubleheader with four RBI. Morgan collected six hits across the two games. Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Reghan Hintz tossed 3.2 innings of relief in the doubleheader, earning the win in game two. Lewis is 8-for-14 against Wheeling in her career with a home run, two doubles and four RBI.

STICK AROUND FOR THE END
Seven of the last 10 games between CU and West Liberty have been decided by three runs or fewer with both of last year's games in Athens requiring extra innings. Concord came back from deficits of 5-1 in the seventh and 6-5 in the ninth to defeat WLU, 7-6. Six of CU's runs came from home runs as Giles and current Concord assistant coach Courtney Raines homered in the game. Raines' blast was a three-run, game-tying homer in the seventh. The third Mountain Lion home run came from Lewis on a two-run walkoff shot in the ninth. The Hilltoppers won game two last year at CU, 6-4. The Mountain Lions split two games in their last visit to West Liberty, winning game 9-5 behind two-hit games from Hollis and Morgan.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Mackenzie Burns is one of the best hitters in the MEC as her .391 average is fifth in the conference. She also leads Wheeling in extra-base hits with 10 (eight doubles, two home runs). Keke Warrix is hitting .311 this spring with nine stolen bases. The Cardinals have a team ERA of 5.51. Kaylin Shields has piled up 85 strikeouts in 97.1 innings. Maria Clark has three wins in the circle.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers enter the weekend third in the MEC North, two games ahead of both Point Park and Wheeling. Paytyn Tucker is batting .361 with 16 stolen bases. Sara Simon bats .309 on the year and was crucial for the Hilltoppers in last year's doubleheader in Athens. Kadence Pettit has won five games in the circle, but pitches to contact as she only has 42 strikeouts in 68.1 innings. West Liberty ended a seven-game losing streak by picking up a 9-1 win over Fairmont State on April 4.
