Concord Defeated at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Concord University baseball team lost a pair of games to Millersville Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Cooper Park.

Game 1: Millersville 16 – Concord 1
CU (5-10) scored the first run of the game, but was unable to keep pace with the Marauders (10-4).

The Mountain Lions plated a run with two outs in the first inning. Junior infielder Nick DiSanti kept the frame alive with a two-out base hit, and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. With senior outfielder Korbin Bostic at the plate, he delivered an RBI single to score DiSanti.

Millersville immediately answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and led 9-1 after three innings.

Junior utility Hunter Sipel joined Bostic and DiSanti in the hit column.

Junior pitcher Jake Robinson (1-3) was the pitcher of record for Concord as he pitched 2.1 innings.

Game 2: Millersville 2 – Concord 0
The nightcap turned into a pitcher's dual between freshman pitcher Jonah Adams and Millersville's Rece Ritchey.

Adams sailed through the first two innings as he retired the first six batters of the game on 22 pitches. The seventh out of the game came when senior catcher Austin Hear threw out a base runner after a leadoff single. However, Millersville had four of the next five batters reach as the Marauders scored twice in the third.

Hear reached first to lead off the fifth inning as the next two batters represented the tying run, but Millersville escaped.

Senior catcher Kaden Swaim sent a single to right field with two outs in the sixth, but it was as far as the Mountain Lion rally went in the inning. And with one out in the seventh, junior infielder/pitcher Dawson Maynard doubled. But again, the Marauders did not allow Concord to score in the threat.

Adams (0-4) pitched well in the defeat as he tossed five innings, allowing five hits—four in the third inning—and two runs. He struck out three batters.
Swaim was 2-for-3 in the contest.

Concord and Millersville finish their three-game series with a single, nine-inning game 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
