Concord Slotted Eighth in Final Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The Concord University women's basketball team is ranked eighth in the final release of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings that were announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Mountain Lions are 18-10 as they head into the Mountain East Conference Tournament, facing Fairmont State in the quarterfinal round 8:30 p.m. Thursday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.

The Atlantic Regional Rankings determine the eight teams that will represent the region in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Three conference champions from the Mountain East Conference, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association earn automatic followed by the best five at-large teams making up the field.

Winston-Salem State has already won the CIAA Championship.

Gannon topped this week's rankings followed by Indiana (Pa.), Winston-Salem State, Seton Hill, Fayetteville State, Glenville State, Fairmont State, Concord, Edinboro and West Virginia Wesleyan.

The MEC and PSAC Tournaments are in progress this week.
