BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Reagan Hintz of the Concord University softball team has been named as the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Â
Hintz made appearances in all four games Concord played in at the Moyer Crossover Tournament over the weekend.
Â
The Melfa, Virginia native gave up just three earned runs across 13.2 innings of work. The right-hander punched out 20 batters in four games, and she ranks fourth in the MEC with 56 strikeouts.
Â
In the final game of the weekend, Hintz slammed the door shut on Mansfield, earning a save in the 6-2 Mountain Lion win. Hintz is one of just seven pitchers with a save this season in the conference.
Â
This is Hintz's second time taking home the award this season, previously winning the honor February 23.
Â
Davis & Elkins' Ashlyn Zapach was named the MEC Player of the Week.
Â
The Mountain Lions open MEC play with a doubleheader against Charleston Friday at 12:00 p.m. in Athens.
