SEVENS

After a 4-0 weekend with wins over Edinboro and Shepherd, the Mountain Lions start their latest four-game stretch with a seven-game winning streak. Five of the seven wins have come by two runs or less, including some incredible pitching by sophomore pitcher/outfielder Reghan Hintz and senior pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis as the duo has combined for three shutouts in 1-0 victories. Hollis starts the weekend with a consecutive scoreless innings streak of 12.0. Hollis' four wins in the circle this season are second in the MEC. Concord's seven-game winning streak is the longest for the program since a nine-game streak at the end of the 2019 regular season.

GET THE BATS GOING
In one of the four wins last weekend, Concord plated a season-best 10 runs in a 10-2 win over Edinboro. CU recorded double-digit hits in the contest for the first time this season as it finished with 11 knocks in the contest. Senior outfielder Alina Giles crushed her second home run of the season—she is the only Concord player with a home run this spring. Junior infielder Kendall Morgan legged out her fourth career triple in the win over Edinboro and was responsible for three RBI. Over the weekend, senior infielder Lacie Lewis hit safely in all four games to raise her average to .296 on the season. Morgan leads the team with an average of .344. Senior catcher/utility Kayla Sholter is second on the team with a .308 batting average after she recorded at least one hit in the final three games of the weekend.

REGIONAL RIVALRY

Concord and UVa.-Wise meet for the first time on the softball diamond since a CU sweep on the road in February 2024. Hollis and Lewis both homered to power the Mountain Lions to an 8-6 win in game one. Lewis added a second home run in game two as CU rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit to win 6-5. Overall, Lewis was 3-for-6 in the two games against the Cavaliers with a home run, a double and five RBI. Hollis was the winning pitcher in game as she tossed 4.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three.

HOME CONFINES
The Mountain Lions are seeking to improve upon a 7-5 home record from a season ago as they open up the home schedule against Lock Haven and King. Concord and King have met in two of the past three seasons with the Tornado winning all four games. The sides played in Athens in 2023. Last year at King, CU fell 7-6 in 10 innings to KU. Lewis and Sholter each drove a pair runs. Senior outfielder Morgan Gleason scored twice. Meanwhile, Saturday will be the first time in program history the Maroon and Gray plays Lock Haven at home. The teams have only met once previously, a 9-0 victory for CU in 2017 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
UVa.-Wise is off to an 11-3 start this season as the offense has been the driving force. The Cavaliers are hitting .336 on the year. Eight of the 22 hits for Kaylynn Baker are doubles as she is adding 14 RBI. Taylor Noe also has 14 RBI. Chloe Murphy has a 4-1 record in the circle with 1.77 ERA in 31.2 innings.

Lees-McRae's latest games were a two-game split against NAIA school Milligan. The Bobcats have two wins by mercy rule, but also three losses that did not go seven innings. Allie Johnston has blasted three home runs to go with 19 RBI. LMC is averaging nearly three stolen bases per game. Lees-McRae gives up an opponent batting average of .327. Emma Bigby is responsible for three wins in the circle.

King already has 16 games under its belt, and has won four of the last six contests entering the weekend. Yuleesa Kennedy is hitting .377 with four home runs and 15 RBI. Aubrey King has driven in 13 runs. Savana Luper (1.63) and Kaylee Meeks (1.96) both have ERAs under two. Meeks is adding 30 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.

Lock Haven's only games to date were a doubleheader split against Wilmington. The Bald Eagles shutout WU in the first game, 3-0, before being shutout, 10-0, in the second game. Talia Ross struck out 10 batters over seven innings in her dominant performance of Wilmington. LHU is coming off a 15-27 season in 2025.
