SECOND PLATOON
Concord's bench netted a season-high 36 points at West Liberty Sunday afternoon. The duo of sophomore guard Brendan Hoffman and freshman guard Micah Young did the bulk of the heavy lifting in the game. Hoffman tossed in 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting, including two three-pointers. He also tied his career high with five rebounds and blocked two shots for the first time in his career. Hoffman's 16 points were the most since he scored 21 points at Charleston (Jan. 21). Young added 13 points off the bench in 27 minutes. Sunday was Young's 18th game of the season scoring in double figures despite only starting seven games this winter. Young is 13th in the MEC in scoring this year at 15.2 points per game which is also second for the Mountain Lions.

GO FOR BO
Junior forward Boubacar Djigo went for 22 points in the contest against the nationally-ranked Hilltoppers Sunday afternoon. Djigo scored all 22 of his points on two-point tries as he did not attempt a three-pointer or a free throw in the contest. The Cleveland, Ohio native equaled his career high in made field goals (11) and his shooting percentage of 78.5 percent (11-for-14) at West Liberty was the second highest field-goal percentage of the season with a minimum of 10 made field goals for any CU player—junior forward Anfernee Hanna hit 83.3 percent of his shots (10-of-12) against Davis & Elkins January 10. Additionally, Djigo's 22-point performance was his team-best seventh 20-point game of the year. He is just outside the top 10 in MEC in scoring per game (15.9 points/11th). Djigo had one of his 20-point games at West Virginia State December 3 when he finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds.

BOARD WORK
Despite being outshot 51.9 percent to 44.9 percent at West Liberty, Concord outrebounded the Hilltoppers 36-31 in the contest. The Mountain Lions turned 15 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points. It was the sixth time this season that CU had at least 20 second-chance points in a game. Six of the nine rebounds for Djigo came on the offensive end while Hanna snatched four offensive rebounds. Djigo is third in Division II in offensive rebounds per game at 4.5. Overall, he ranks second in the country in rebounds per game (13.0). Concord's team rebounding margin of +5.5 for the season is third in the MEC while West Virginia State ranks ninth in rebounding margin, -4.7. The Maroon and Gray held a 44-31 advantage in rebounds in the first matchup this season.

HEAT IT UP
The Mountain Lions go for their third straight win over West Virginia State after defeating the Yellow Jackets in last year's MEC Tournament Quarterfinals and again in the first conference game of the season, 97-76. Concord shot a blistering 53.7 percent from the field which is CU's third-highest shooting game of the season to this point. Sophomore forward Kraig Gilbert (22 points) and Djigo (20) combined for 42 points as both players shot 9-for-11 from the field. Hanna was a 50-percent shooter in the game with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Young added 14 points and five assists while sophomore guard Josiah Rickards went for 10 points and four assists. Concord recorded a season-high 56 points in the paint against the Yellow Jackets as the Maroon and Gray shot 62 percent (28-for-45) in the painted area in December.

FINISH STRONG
At 6-7 on the season inside the Carter Center, CU is seeking to secure at least a .500 record at its home confines. A win on Wednesday night would mark the ninth straight year and the 10th time in the last 11 years with at least an even mark in home games. When it comes to the MEC standings, Concord is tied for sixth entering the week with Frostburg State at 9-9. As it stands, the Mountain Lions hold the tiebreaker on FSU, based on strength of best win—Concord defeated second-place Fairmont State earlier in the season. To secure the sixth seed, CU would need to match Frostburg State's record this week. The Bobcats host Davis & Elkins Wednesday before traveling to Fairmont State Saturday. The Mountain Lions visit Glenville State Saturday. Concord is also trying to extend a streak of winning at least 10 conference games to five straight seasons that have been fully played.

RETURN TO SENDER
Two of the top five shot-blocking teams in the MEC square off Wednesday night. The Mountain Lions leads the conference in blocks per game (4.5). West Virginia State is fifth at 3.5 per contest. CU enters the final home game of the season with four or more blocks in 18 games, including the Mountain Lions recording four or more blocks in five of the last six games. Concord is up to 118 blocks per game for the season which is the ninth most in program history. CU ranks in a tie for 24th in Division II in blocks per contest. Junior forward Eldon Terry is third in the MEC in blocks (1.5) while Djigo is fifth (1.2). Terry's 39 blocks for the season are tied for 15th in a single season at Concord. Hassan Belkhaddar and Jaylen Subject are both averaging a block per game for West Virginia State.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5- Concord has won five of its last six games versus West Virginia State.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
West Virginia State has won three of its last four games with the last two victories coming by a combined seven points. Trey Harris is up to fifth in the MEC in scoring as he is averaging 16.3 points per game. Harris has notched six straight 20-point games. Of those six games, Harris has also recorded a double-double three times. Andrew Shull buried nine three-pointers on CU in the December matchup and had 31 points. West Virginia State won the second regular-season game last year over Concord, 112-111 in triple overtime.
