BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Sophomore pitcher
Reghan Hintz of the Concord University softball team has been pegged as the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Hintz, a native of Melfa, Virginia, is the MEC Pitcher of the Week after a stellar weekend inside the circle.
In two starts against Shepherd, Hintz limited the Rams to nine hits over 14 innings to go with two earned runs and 12 total strikeouts. She improved to 3-2 on the season with a pair of wins over Shepherd.
In her first start on Friday, Hintz tossed a complete game as she gave up two runs on four hits and tied her career high with nine strikeouts. She returned to the circle Saturday evening and tossed her first career complete-game shutout.
Hintz matched zeros with Shepherd's starting pitcher until Concord walked off in the bottom of the seventh against Rams for a 1-0 victory. She scattered five hits and issued one walk in the win.
Charleston's Ella Zucchero was the MEC Player of the Week.
The Mountain Lions travel to UVa.-Wise for round robin games against Lees-McRae and UVa.-Wise Friday to start a busy weekend.
