OPENING TIP
The Concord University women's basketball team is set to face Wheeling at the Carter Center Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a Mountain East Conference game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Lions cruised to a 78-54 victory over Davis & Elkins behind five double-figure scorers. Senior forward Abbie Smith led Concord with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Junior forward Alexis Frazee tacked on 15 points off the bench. Sophomore guard Kenyah Stubbs scored 12 points in the win. Senior forward Olivia Ziolkowski and sophomore guard Cadence Blackburn each scored 10 points. As a unit, the Mountain Lions shot 48.5 percent from the field. This is their third straight contest shooting at least 45.0 percent from the floor. On the flipside, CU's defense continues to give opposing teams trouble, holding D&E to just 33.9 percent shooting. The win for Concord was its fifth straight which is a season high—the second straight year with a win streak of at least five games.

PERFECT VISION
Smith continues her excellent season and made some history in the victory over Davis & Elkins. The Little Hocking, Ohio native collected her first 20-20 game, ending the victory with 22 points and 21 rebounds (career high). For Concord, this is the first 20-20 game since Riley Fitzwater in January of 2018 against Wheeling Jesuit. Smith was recognized as the MEC Player of the Week for her performances against Fairmont State, West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. This was Smith's third Player of the Week award this season. Smith tallied 59 total points, 34 rebounds, eight blocks, and four assists. Across the three games, Smith shot 24-40 (60 percent) from the field. Smith was also named MEC Player of the Week three times during her junior season.

GOING FRAZEE
Frazee has been beneficial for Concord this season and has come up big over the past three games. Against Fairmont State, Frazee scored 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting. In that contest, Frazee collected five rebounds and a career-high eight assists off the bench. Against West Virginia Wesleyan, the junior guard dumped in 10 points and six rebounds. In the most recent outing against Davis & Elkins, she was the second recent scorer with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Frazee is averaging 8.5 points per game on 52.4 percent shooting and a blistering 48.8 percent from three-point range. Frazee has made 40 threes on the season, which puts her in seventh place in the conference.

STREAKIN' TO THE END
The Mountain Lions have won five straight games for the first time in 2025-26 with wins over Salem, Point Park, Fairmont State, West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. With just four games remaining, let's take a look at where the Mountain Lions sit in the standings. Entering Wednesday's contest against Wheeling, Concord sits in a three-way tie for second place with a 12-4 MEC record alongside West Virginia Wesleyan and Charleston. Glenville State is atop the conference with a 13-3 conference record. The remaining schedule for CU consists of home versus Wheeling, on the road at West Liberty, home versus West Virginia State and the regular-season finale at Glenville State.

HIT THE BOARDS
Rebounding has been a major part of Concord's success. The Mountain Lions rank third in the MEC, averaging 42.1 rebounds per game. In seven straight games, Concord has outrebounded their opponent and CU is 11-5 on the year when it accomplishes that. Taking a look back at the first matchup with Wheeling, Concord dominated the boards. The Mountain Lions secured 54 rebounds to Wheeling's 30 for a season-best +24 rebounding margin. Smith led the team with 16 rebounds, six of which were on the offensive glass.

POUND THE PAINT
Another place Concord found success in its 66-54 road win over Wheeling was in the paint. The Mountain Lions scored 48 of their 66 points inside the paint. On the defensive end, they allowed just 26 points in the paint which is the third-lowest mark on the season. Stubbs led Concord in scoring with 19 points on an efficient 8-of-14 clip. Smith added 14 points to her 16 rebounds. Senior guard Kennedy Scales was the other scorer in double figures with 13 points. In the contest at Wheeling, the Mountain Lions shot 57 percent in the paint (24-for-42) as opposed to just 15.7 percent from (3-for-19) on shots outside the lane.
