FIRST-TIME GOAL SCORERS
Concord bagged four goals in a 4-2 win at West Liberty Wednesday night. Sophomore midfielder Daisy Cook scored her team-leading and MEC-leading sixth goal of the season, and sophomore defender Molly Watters netted her fourth goal in the last four games and fifth of the year. The other two goals for the Mountain Lions came from first-time goal scorers in 2026, sophomore midfielder Alex Kelly and junior forward Ailsa Swinburne. For Swinburne, it was her first goal since the season opener in 2025 versus Kutztown. And for Kelly, it was first career goal at CU.  Kelly and Swinburne became the first eighth and ninth goal scorers for the Mountain Lions this season—Concord had 15 goal scorers in 2025.

BREAK THE STREAK
CU owns a 10-6-2 advantage in the all-time series versus Fairmont State, but has dropped four of the last five matchups to the Fighting Falcons, all by one goal. The two sides have met in the each of the last two MEC Tournaments, the 2025 conference semifinals and the 2024 conference quarterfinals. In last year's regular-season meeting, the Mountain Lions fell 3-2. Rowell assisted on one of the goals while junior midfielder Stephanie Tovar assisted on a goal in the 2025 MEC Semifinals. Sunday's matchup will be the first time CU faces off with Fairmont State when FSU is nationally-ranked as the Fighting Falcons come in as the 21st-rated team in Division II.

TOP OF THE LEADERBOARD
Wednesday's clash against West Virginia State will be a meeting of two of the top goal scorers in the MEC in Cook and West Virginia's State Leila Karam. The pair is tied with Frostburg State's Mollie Rebuck for the goals lead in the conference at six. Cook has a one-point lead in the overall points race (16-15) over Karam after collecting her first career four-point game at West Liberty this past Wednesday. Cook has heated up recently with 10 points over the last four games. Karam did her work early on the season as she only has two points over the last four contests.

PROTECTING HOME TURF
Concord has dropped its last two games to West Virginia State, however, both have come on the road. The Mountain Lions have only lost one home game to the Yellow Jackets, going 4-1-1 all-time. Last year, CU scored twice in the second half to down WVSU, 2-0, at Callaghan Stadium. Cook scored on a goal assisted by Tovar while sophomore forward Alana Ferguson assisted on the second score. The only home lost for Concord against the Yellow Jackets came during the 2022 season when WVSU made the NCAA Tournament. Earlier this season, CU lost 2-1 at West Virginia State with Rowell scoring in the 70th minute.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING FALCONS
The only two blemishes for Fairmont State were a pair of ties, a scoreless draw with Frostburg State and a 1-1 draw versus West Virginia State. FSU is perhaps the most balanced team offensively in the MEC. The Fighting Falcons are second in the MEC in goals scored (26), but no player has more than three goals, and no player has more than nine points on the year. Fourteen players have already found the goal column for FSU. Goalkeeper Olivia Johnston and the Fairmont State backline have only conceded seven goals this season, second fewest in the conference.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
WVSU has been a bit wobbly as of late, winning just one of its last five games. On Wednesday, West Virginia State held the powerful Frostburg State offense to one goal while Rachel Okoro converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute to earn a 1-1 tie. Okoro and Maria Hernandez Diaz supplement the offense with three goals each behind Karam's six goals. Earlier this season, Hernandez Diaz and Jazz Cedillo scored in WVSU's 2-1 win over Concord.
