PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Concord University volleyball team picked up a win in straight sets over Shawnee State Tuesday night in a Mountain East Conference matchup inside Waller Gymnasium.
Concord (12-7, 5-1 MEC) limited Shawee State (6-12, 1-5 MEC) as the Bears only got past 15 points in one set. The set scores were 25-12, 25-10, 25-16.
The Mountain Lions were stifling on defense as it held SSU to .018 hitting, marking the third straight match of holding the opposition to less than .050 hitting. Offensively, Concord was on point as it hit a season-high .299 in cruising to the win.
After a tightly-contested first 16 points of the game, the Maroon and Gray turned a 9-7 edge into a commanding 16-8 lead. Sophomore middle hitter

CU ran out to an 12-3 advantage in the second set as Stull threw in two more of her nine kills in the match before senior outside hitter
Meg Williams provided one of her 10 kills. The Mountain Lions continued to limit the Bears as SSU only had five kills in the second set as opposed to 11 errors. Senior middle hitter

The only time Concord trailed in the third set was 1-0 as the Mountain Lions slowly pulled away from Shawnee State in finishing off its third straight sweep. Six of CU's 17 kills in the third set came from Williams. Stull added three kills in the set while Moss had the final point of the night for Maroon and Gray, a kill from senior setter
Haley Sweeney.
The Mountain Lions had 42 kills and only committed 10 errors.
Williams was the only CU player with double-digit kill. Senior outside hitter
Chloe Thompson followed Stull's nine kills with seven kills.
