Concord Clipped at UDC

WASHINGTON – The Concord University men's soccer team faltered in game against Super One Region foe, University of the District of Columbia 1-0, Wednesday in a non-conference game at the UDC Soccer Field.

The nationally-ranked, 18th rated Mountain Lions (9-2-2) saw their ten-game unbeaten streak come to an end against UDC (5-5-4) in the low-scoring game.

Concord had control of the first half, owning the only two shots of the first half. CU also managed to hold the Firebirds without a shot in the first 45 minutes.

Despite the early advantages, it was UDC breaking through in the 63rd minute.

Concord surged late with three shots in the final two minutes but were unable to break through the UDC defense. Among the chances for CU were two shots by freshman midfielder Josiah Ochoa and an attempt from freshman forward Mario Bedford.

The Mountain Lions were led by Ochoa who put all three of his team-leading shots on goal. Junior forward Lucas Costa had two shots. Junior goalkeeper Iori Tanaka made a pair of saves in the loss.

Tuesday was Concord's first loss since September 6 at nationally-ranked Charleston.

Concord returns home facing Salem in an MEC match Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
