POUR IT IN
In Concord's 95-87 win at Fairmont State on December 20—the second straight year beating the Fighting Falcons when they are ranked top 10 in Division II on their home floor—the Mountain Lions connected on 13 three-pointers which were the most this season. Sophomore forward
Kraig Gilbert continued his torrid pace from three-point range as he hit three three-pointers in five attempts, taking his season percentage to 53.6 percent (30-for-58). Junior forward
Anfernee Hanna made all three of his three-point tries at FSU as part of his team-best 23 points. He entered the game 5-for-21 from three-point distance for the season. And like Hanna, sophomore guard
Brendan Hoffman hit a career-best three three-pointers at Fairmont State, scoring a season-best 16 points. Along with making 13 three-pointers, CU shot 52 percent (13-for-25) from beyond the arc, the highest percentage since mid-January 2025 versus Wheeling.
MULTIPLE OPTIONS
The Mountain Lions finished with their second-most points this season in the win at Fairmont State. In doing so, five players scored in double figures for the second this season—the other was at West Virginia State December 3. Hanna tallied his second career 20-point game in the Maroon and Gray. Junior forward
Boubacar Djigo recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds. He continues to lead Division II in rebounding (13.9 per game). Djigo finished two points shy of his career high set November 24 against Virginia Union. Hoffman came off the bench to score 16 points in 21 minutes. He was 4-for-6 from the floor, 3-of-4 from three-point distance and 5-for-5 at the foul line. Gilbert tossed in 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting. And freshman guard
Micah Young added 14 points for his sixth game in double figures during his first season of collegiate basketball.
CATCHING FIRE
CU continued its trend of playing stronger second halves than the start of the game at Fairmont State. During its five-game winning streak, the Maroon and Gray is averaging 50.4 points in the second half, and have scored 50 or more points in the second half four times during the streak. The Mountain Lions are netting a staggering 89.8 points per game during their five-game winning stretch. In the second halves of the last five games, CU is shooting 52.9 percent from the floor. And in the win at Fairmont State, the Mountain Lions marched to the foul line 28 times in the second half as they hit 24-of-28 attempts. Over the final 65 seconds of the FSU contest, Concord was 11-for-12 from the foul line in securing the win over the Fighting Falcons.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Concord bench made a difference in the win at Fairmont State as the second unit piled up 30 points. In just his third game of the season, returning from injury, Hoffman dropped in 16 points which is the second-highest scoring game in his career. Meanwhile, Young threw in 14 points as he was at the forefront of the foul shooting late in the game, going 3-for-4 at the charity stripe in closing out FSU. This season, the CU bench is averaging 15.1 points per game, and the reserves have scored 24 or more points in five straight games. Over those same five games, Young is averaging 14.0 points per contest while only playing 19.4 minutes per game. Junior forward
Eldon Terry has also provided a boost off the bench in the last five games as he is averaging 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in just 8.6 minutes per game.
WINNING WAYS
The Mountain Lions will put two streaks on the line Saturday afternoon. CU has won five straight games to improve to 7-3 on the season. The five-game winning streak is the third such streak in the last three seasons. During the 2023-24 season, Concord won 10 straight games. And last year, the Mountain Lions won nine consecutive games. It is the first time since the 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons that CU has had five-game winning streaks in three straight seasons. The Maroon and Gray has won four straight games against Salem and seven of the last eight. Over the last two seasons, CU's average margin of victory is 14 points in those four games. Hoffman and sophomore guard
Josiah Rickards each had 10 points in last year's 98-84 home win. Gilbert fueled an 82-64 win at Salem last season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
SLOWING SALEM
The Tigers only shoot 43.5 percent from the field for the season. However, SU is shooting 52.4 percent from inside the arc this season as the Tigers have only hit on 27.9 percent of their three-point tries and only make six triples per game. Eman Lawal is shooting 55.3 percent overall, and 67.6 percent on two-point field goals. He averages 18.9 points per game. Xavier Price has been an efficient 53.6 percent form the floor in averaging 12.1 points per game. Last year in Athens, the Mountain Lions held Salem to 42.6 percent shooting and a 30 percent rate from three-point range (6-for-20). In the first matchup last year, SU only made four three-pointers in 22 attempts (18.2 percent).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Fallen (20) and Gamble (14) have combined for 34 of the team's 60 three-pointers.
