CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team played a second consecutive 0-0 tie with a scoreless deadlock at Charleston Wednesday night in a Mountain East Conference game at the Welch Athletic Complex.

The Mountain Lions (2-2-2, 2-0-2 MEC) doubled up Charleston (2-3-1, 2-1-1 MEC) in shots, 18-9, but was unable to break through despite a flurry of 13 shots in the second half.

Arguably the best chance of the game came from sophomore midfielder Marika Svensson in the 81st minute as a centering cross found Svensson's head at the top of the six-yard box, but the UC goalkeeper was able to push the shot high of the crossbar.

Concord got corner kicks in the 81st and 84th minutes, but neither yielded a shot. It was two of nine corner kicks in the game for the Maroon and Gray. Sophomore midfielder Tiana Campbell produced a shot in the 84th minute that was cleared off the line to keep the game scoreless.

Charleston had the momentum in the final five minutes as sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Loughborough was forced into making two of her four saves in the game in the 85th and 86th minutes. And in the final 40 seconds, a UC shot from inside 10 yards was high of the goal.

Svensson had another clean chance in the 16th minute, which was the first shot for either team, as her 30-yard strike was destined for the right corner of the goal before being tipped over the bar.

Individually, senior forward Caitlin Webster paced the Mountain Lions with five shots. Junior forward Stephanie Tovar took four shots while all three shots for Svensson were on frame.

Loughborough's scoreless streak reached 300 consecutive minutes with the clean sheet on Wednesday that was also assisted by the back line of senior defender Jessica Neville, sophomore defender Ella Rowell and freshman defender Cecelie Skelde.

The Mountain Lions return home to host MEC South leader West Virginia State 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
