NEW ORLEANS – The Concord University men's cross country team has been voted fifth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Preseason Poll, the organization released Tuesday afternoon.
The Mountain Lions finished fourth in the region last season, and return a wealth of experience from last year's squad.
Charleston topped the preseason rankings followed by Shippensburg, Davis & Elkins and East Stroudsburg. After Concord at five, Slippery Rock, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Indiana (Pa.) and West Virginia Wesleyan completed the top 10.
CU has finished fifth or higher in seven of the last eight Atlantic Region Championships, dating back to 2016.
Concord begins the 2025 season at the Catawba Fleet Feet Saturday in Salisbury, North Carolina. It was the first meet under the direction of first-year head coach Jonathan Kigel.
