BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Senior defender Kai Forsyth of the Concord University men's soccer team has been named Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the conference office announced.

Forsyth, a native of Derby, England, notched his first career brace for Concord in the 4-0 win over Point Park in the Mountain East home opener.

Forsyth's first goal came on a rebound that fell right to his feet off of a corner kick that was unable to be cleared.

His second came in the 85th minute where a corner from senior defender Ted Roberts found him with plenty of room and Forsyth easily headed it home.

Not only did Forsyth help offensively from his back line position, but CU posted their first two clean sheets of the season this week, with that 4-0 win over Point Park and a 1-0 win on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan.

The two-time All-MEC First Team selection picks up his second career MEC Defensive Player of the Week award with Monday's announcement.

West Liberty forward Travis Scandalis was named the MEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Concord is back in action Wednesday as it hosts Charleston at 4:00 p.m. at Callaghan Stadium.
