ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University men's soccer team defeated Point Park 4-0 at Callaghan Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference tilt.
The first 30 minutes saw a pretty even contest between the two MEC squads. Concord (3-0, 2-0 MEC) had its share of chances, but were yet to find a goal.
The Mountain Lions finally broke through as senior defender Kai Forsyth hammered home his first goal of 2025 in the 42nd minute after a rebound fell at his feet on a shot from senior forward Richard Henry.
Point Park (0-2, 0-1 MEC) was unable to put a shot on goal in the first half.
Junior forward Jaden McKree was taken down in the box in the 52nd minute and moments later, senior defender Julian Correa converted the penalty kick, doubling CU's lead.
Concord really started clicking in the second half as it netted the game's third goal in the 59th minute. Senior defender Ted Roberts whipped in a cross that found McKree in the box, who knocked it into the back of the net.
The Mountain Lions fourth and final goal came in the 85th minute. Roberts swung in a corner kick that found Forsyth's head, pushing the lead to 4-0 in favor of CU. For Forsyth, it was his first career brace with the Maroon and Gray.
Concord dominated in most statistics, namely in shots 23-8 and shots on goal 12-2.Â
Concord heads back on the road, as the Mountain Lions take on West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday at 1:30 p.m in a MEC conference match.
