BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior guard Skylar Davidson of the Concord University women's basketball team and junior outfielder Dawson Gragg of the Concord University baseball team have been announced as finalists for Mountain East Conference Play of the Year, the league office announced Friday morning.

Davidson is a finalist for MEC Play of the Year for her late, go-ahead three-pointer in a 79-77 win over Frostburg State February 1. With the game tied at 75-75 and the shot clock winding down, Davidson lost her dribble, but was able to regain and throw up a three-pointer from approximately 30 feet to push Concord ahead with six seconds remaining.

Gragg makes the cut for MEC Play of the Year consideration after his home-run robbing catch in late February versus Emory & Henry that ended up appearing on ESPN's SportsCenter's Top 10 plays later on February 25. With Concord trailing 2-1 in the third inning, Gragg tracked a deep fly ball off the bat of E&H's Caeden Howell. Reaching the fence, Gragg used a head first leaping lunge to extend over the fence and pull back what would have been a two-run home run for the Wasps. CU went on to win the game 11-8.

There are several ways to vote for either Davidson or Gragg for MEC Play of the Year. A fan poll is open to vote at this link. Fans and supports can share the plays on social media platforms as well (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram).

Social media interactions and views are a fraction of the voting as well as the fan poll. The fan poll closes at 5:00 p.m. July 1.

Davidson and Gragg were the winners of Female and Male Play of the Year at the 2025 Concord Champions Gala.

The Concord Athletic Department is also going for MEC Play of the Year for the third straight year. In 2023, Nakaila Gray's three-pointer at the MEC Tournament was the top play in the MEC. And last summer, Andre Nicholson's game-winning goal in the MEC Tournament versus West Virginia Wesleyan took MEC Play of the Year honors.
