BACK TO THE BIG SHOW
After a one-year absence from the MEC Tournament, the Mountain Lions qualified for the postseason on the final day of the regular season with a pair over wins over Glenville State, 13-6 and 10-2, that was also coupled with two West Virginia State wins, paving the way for Concord to face the top seed out of the MEC North Division Point Park in Wednesday's tournament lid lifter. Junior outfielder
Korbin Bostic, senior infielder
Brendan Brady and sophomore infielder
Nick DiSanti all had five hits and six RBI. Bostic launched two home runs in the series while two of the five hits for DiSanti went for extra bases (a double and a home run). Concord's bullpen was also vital on Sunday with junior pitcher
Kerry Collins and sophomore pitcher/outfielder
Demario Faison combining for six innings of scoreless relief. Collins picked up his second save of the year in game one while Faison earned his first win of the season in game two.
RUBBER MATCH
Wednesday's game between Concord and Point Park will be the third meeting between the sides this season. CU and the Pioneers split a doubleheader in western Pennsylvania in late March with the Mountain Lions taking the first game 11-3, and PPU winning the second game, 8-3. In the doubleheader, junior infielder
Matthew DiSanti was a combined 4-for-8 while N. DiSanti was 4-for-9 with two doubles and three RBI. Junior catcher
Kaden Swaim drove in a pair of runs in each game, and Bostic had a double in each game with two RBI. In CU's win, senior outfielder
Demetri Jamison hit one of his five home runs on the year. Graduate pitcher
Coby Ingle provided 6.0 innings on the mound as he racked up six strikeouts and allowed three earned runs.
BEWARE OF THE THREE SEED
The Mountain Lions enter this year's MEC Tournament having won at least two games in each of the last three conference tournaments they have qualified for, including making the MEC Championship as the three seed from the South Division in 2021. Two years ago at GoMart Ballpark, CU defeated Wheeling and Frostburg State before bowing out of the conference tournament with two straight losses. The storyline was similar in 2022 when the Mountain Lions picked off Fairmont State and Frostburg State in their first two games before exiting the postseason. Of the current healthy Concord players, only Brady, senior outfielder
D.J. Christian Jr. and senior utility
MJ Hunter have played a postseason game at GoMart Ballpark. Hunter had a hit in all four tournament games in 2023 and racked up four RBI. After starting 0-for-4 at the 2023 MEC Tournament, Brady finished 5-for-15. Christian picked up a pair of multi-hit games two seasons ago at GoMart Ballpark.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Point Park rolls into the MEC Tournament with not only the most conference wins, but also the most wins overall in the league. The MEC's second-best offense is paced by Jared Campbell who is hitting .372 with 14 home runs and 50 RBI, both tops in the conference. Crixtian Taveras has belted eight home runs and driven in 48 runs. Point Park (.304 average) trails only Concord (.325 average) as the top offense in the MEC. The pitching staff is led by Harold Boyce who has five wins and five saves on the mound in 56 innings. Boyce has a 3.34 ERA. Javier Cardoso who Concord chased for seven runs over 3.2 innings is 8-3 this year with a 3.45 ERA.
