ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University head men's basketball coach
Todd May has announced Khamani Wertz as the latest addition to a growing recruiting class for the 2025-26 season.
Name: Khamani Wertz
Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.
High School: Carmel Christian
Previous School: Belmont Abbey College
Position: Guard
Height: 6-0
Wertz wrapped up his sophomore season for Division II Belmont Abbey where he was the leading scorer for the Crusaders this past winter. Wertz averaged 15.0 points per game. He shot 38.7 percent from the field, but heated up to shoot 45.8 percent from three-point range, making 58 triples. Wertz was second in the Conference Carolinas in three-point percentage this past season as he scored nearly 25 percent of his team's points in games he played.
"Khamani Wertz is a long, skilled, high IQ point guard who can really shoot the basketball. He brings Division II experience and fits our culture," May said. "We're excited to add him to our program."
Wertz was reduced to 15 games this season, but played a team-leading 33.5 minutes per game. He averaged nearly three assists per game to go with his 15 points per game contest. His sophomore season was a breakthrough campaign after he averaged 14 minutes per game and scored just over three points per game as a freshman in 2023-24.
Wertz is the third signing for the Mountain Lions during this recruiting cycle, joining junior college forward Anfernee Hanna (Nassau, Bahamas/Motlow State CC) and high school guard Micah Young (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North).
