A SWING AND A DRIVE
Junior infielder
Lacie Lewis was named MEC Player of the Week for the second time this season after smashing three home runs in a four-game stretch against West Liberty and Wheeling. Lewis hit .400 on the weekend and crushed a two-run walkoff homer in game one over the Hilltoppers. She answered back with a leadoff homer in game two and added a third long ball in game two against Wheeling Saturday. The ball wasn't just flying out for just Lewis, as junior outfielder
Alina Giles logged her first two career home runs on over the weekend and senior first baseman/outfielder
Kassidy Garvey, senior infielder
Courtney Raines, and sophomore infielder
Kendall Morgan each hit one dinger as well. In conference play, the Mountain Lions have hit more home runs (17) than any other MEC team.
Â
RELIEVER REGHAN
While junior pitcher/infielder
Madison Hollis only allowed four earned runs across 12.2 innings against Wheeling and West Liberty, it was freshman pitcher/outfielder
Reghan Hintz who shined for CU in the circle. Hintz appeared out of the bullpen in all four games Friday and Saturday, pitching 6.1 innings of relief. The Melfa, Va. native only surrendered one earned run in those appearances and struck out eight hitters while claiming the first two wins of her career. Her first appearance of the weekend came in game one against WLU where she pitched 2.1 innings and struck out four in the nine-inning thriller to notch the win. Then, she struck out two in one inning of relief in game one over Wheeling with two punch outs and got the win in game two after tossing 2.2 innings and shutting down the Cardinals.
