Concord Places Eighth at West Liberty Invite

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team finished in eighth place at the West Liberty Invitational held at Oglebay Resort and Golf Club Monday.
 
The Mountain Lions posted team totals of 304 and 309 for a combined 613 at the event through two rounds. Round three scheduled for Tuesday was canceled due to impending weather in the area.  
 
Freshman Jonah Willson placed 31st and was Concord's individual leader at the event. He tied his career-low of 74 in his first trip around the course and shot 77 in round two. Willson kept his card clean in the first 18, making two birdies and five bogeys along with 11 pars. He came back with a 77 in the second round to finish at +9 overall.
 
Senior Indiana Eades was 33rd in the field after carding 76 in both rounds. Eades logged an eagle on the par-5 sixth as part of his day one score to sit at +5 heading into the second 18. After going +6 on the front nine in round two, he sank two birdies with only one bogey on the back nine for a 34 to finish the event.
 
Senior Peyton Watts tied his lowest round on the year in round one as he and freshman Kelly Pimenov II totaled 77 after the first round. Watts scored 79 in round two while Pimenov carded an 83. Junior David Gibb rebounded from an 82 in round one with a 77 in round two.
 
Davis & Elkins' Elias Jarn was the event's top performer, finishing with a two-round total of 135 (-7) as D&E was the lowest-scoring team at 563 (-5).

The West Liberty Invite wrapped up the season for the Mountain Lions.
