ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Davis & Elkins, 5-2 and 13-0, Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at Anderson Field.
CU improves to 20-12 overall and 11-3 in the MEC. D&E is now 4-25 overall and 3-11 against the conference.
Game 1: Concord 5 – Davis & Elkins 2
Junior catcher
Austin Hear homered in the bottom of the first as Concord led from start to finish in game one.
A leadoff single by sophomore infielder
Nick DiSanti was followed by a one-out walk two batters later to junior catcher
Kaden Swaim. Now with two outs, Hear turned on a pitch and pulled his sixth home run out to left field to give Concord a 3-0 lead.
The lead stayed at three until the bottom of the third. Swaim doubled with one out and came around to score on a base hit to right center field by junior outfielder
Korbin Bostic. An inning later, Concord had runners on the corners before they executed a double steal.

Matthew DiSanti took off for second base while senior outfielder
D.J. Christian Jr. raced home to increase the Concord advantage to 5-0.
Meanwhile, freshman pitcher
Broc Taylor controlled Davis & Elkins. After giving up a hit in each of the first two innings, the Stuart, Virginia native did not allow another hit until the fifth when D&E plate two runs (one earned).
Taylor (2-2) fanned a career-best eight batters as he allowed two runs on six hits. Junior pitcher
Logan Darrow pitched two innings of scoreless relief as he earned his second save of the season.
The only Concord hitter with multiple knocks in the game was senior utility
MJ Hunter who was 2-for-2 with a walk in the game. Hear drove in three runs and Swaim scored twice.
Game 2: Concord 13 – Davis & Elkins 0
The Mountain Lions did all their damage in the first three innings, and it was coupled by five shutout innings on the mound from sophomore pitcher
Jake Robinson.
Concord needed just one hit to plate four runs in the bottom of the first. A bases-loaded hit by pitch and a fielder's choice brought in the first two runs before senior outfielder
Demetri Jamison roped a two-run double out to center field.
Two more runs came across in the second inning with N. DiSanti driving Christian home after he drew a leadoff walk. Later in the frame, N. DiSanti scored on an RBI double by Bostic.
Up 8-0 in the third after an RBI double by Christian and a run-scoring single from M. DiSanti, Bostic blew the game open with a home run to right field, a three-run shot. The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the frame.
Robinson (6-2) allowed just two hits and one walk over five innings as he helped Concord to its fourth shutout of the season. He struck out six. Senior infielder

Christian Shrewsbury all had relief outings to preserve the shutout.
Bostic was 2-for-2 with a home run and RBI. M. DiSanti added a 2-for-2 day with an RBI.
Concord has a week off before traveling to West Virginia Saturday, April 12 for an MEC doubleheader.
