BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team split two games with West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday evening in Mountain East Conference action at Hank Ellis Field.
CU won the first game 8-2 in eight innings before falling in game two, 4-1. The Mountain Lions are now 21-13 overall and 12-4 in the MEC. WVWC is 9-22 this year and 5-11 after the doubleheader.
Game 1: Concord 8 – West Virginia Wesleyan 2 (Eight Innings)
Concord exploded for six runs in the eighth inning as it picked up a game one win.
The Mountain Lions and Wesleyan needed an extra inning to decide a winner after WVWC plated a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Neither team scored in the seventh, but CU put up a six spot on the board in the top of the eighth.

Demetri Jamison singled to right field with one out before moving to second on a walk to begin the rally. On the next pitch after the walk to senior infielder

D.J. Christian Jr. poked a single through the right to give CU a 3-2 advantage.
From there, Concord proceeded to score five more runs—all with two out. Junior infielder
Matthew DiSanti singled home Burke before Christian scored on a throwing error. Junior outfielder

Alex Rodriguez and junior catcher
Kaden Swaim capped the scoring with back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles.
Junior pitcher
Logan Darrow finished off his complete game by shutting down WVWC in the bottom of the eighth. Darrow (4-2) pitched a career-high eight innings as he allowed two earned runs to go with six strikeouts.

Sophomore infielder
Nick DiSanti was 3-for-5 at the top of the order. Seven different Mountain Lions accounted for an RBI in the game. Bostic, Christian and Swaim each finished with two hits.
Game 2: West Virginia Wesleyan 4 – Concord 1
The Mountain Lions were stymied in game two by Wesleyan starter Alex Hernandez.
CU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a solo home run by Jamison, his fourth of the season. But, the advantage was short lived as the Bobcats scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the inning.
After the tough second inning, graduate pitcher
Zach Powell settled in and retired the final 13 Wesleyan batters he faced. Powell (5-4) went six innings as he gave up three earned runs on five hits. He tied his season high with seven strikeouts.
Concord threatened in the third inning with the leadoff batter reaching on a Wesleyan error. And the Mountain Lions brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh with two outs, but could not reduce the deficit.
Jamison was 1-for-3 with the homer. Senior utility
MJ Hunter went 1-for-2 with a walk.
The teams conclude their four-game series 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
