BATTING CLUTCH
After logging only three hits in her first 13 at-bats of the season with one RBI, senior first baseman/outfielder Kassidy Garvey's bat ignited in CU's games against Charleston and West Virginia State. The Dumfries, Va. native went 2-for-3 at the dish in game one of the Charleston series and recorded her team-leading third hit of the twinbill in game two. Then, against WVSU, Garvey was a perfect 3-for-3 and drilled her first home run of the season along with three runs batted in. She led the Mountain Lions in total hits on the weekend (seven) along with one home run and one double. On the season, Garvey is batting .400 (10-for-25) in 11 games played.

SHUT THE DOOR
With Garvey supplying the offense, freshman pitcher/utility Mahailey Nicholson got it done in the circle in game two versus the Yellow Jackets Sunday. The Newton, W.Va. native got her outing underway by retiring 10 out of the first 11 batters she faced before a fourth-inning walk. WVSU had a runner in scoring position with one out in the fourth, but Nicholson forced two flyouts to left field to keep the Yellow Jackets off the board. She punched out a career-high eight batters in the game with five strikeouts coming after West Virginia State threatened to score in the fourth. Nicholson went the distance for her first career complete game shutout, only surrendering one hit and issuing one walk with her team-high eight strikeouts.
