Hutley Selected by Montreal in CFL Global Draft

TORONTO – Former All-Mountain East Conference First Team punter Josh Hutley of the Concord University football team has been drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League Global Draft, the organization announced Tuesday.

Hutley, a native of Geelong, Australia, was draft with the seventh pick in the second round (16th overall pick). He was the only Division II player selected in the CFL Global Draft. This past fall in the Maroon and Gray, Hutley averaged 42.0 yards per punt with nine punts of 50 or more yards in 2024. He was named All-MEC First Team for the second straight year.

In 2023, Hutley smashed 57 punts for an average of 41.6 yards with 10 going for 50 or more yards. And he landed 20 inside the 20-yard line. In addition to earning All-MEC First Team, Hutley was named CCA All-Super Region One Second Team.

With the completion of the CFL Global Draft, the CFL Draft takes place Tuesday, April 29.

Hutley reports to Alouettes' training camp May 7 for rookie camp with full team training camp opening May 11. Montreal opens its season June 6 against the Toronto Argonauts. The Alouettes are the defending CFL East Division Champions, finishing last season with a record of 12-5-1.
