CLUTCH UP
The Mountain Lions and Charleston have already faced off on the diamond this season with Concord coming away with a pair of 1-0 wins. It was the first doubleheader sweep over the Golden Eagles since the 2019 season and the first road sweep since 2018. Sophomore infielder
Kendall Morgan led the Maroon and Gray with three hits in the two-game set and drove in both runs to secure the victories. In the circle, junior pitcher/infielder
Madison Hollis and sophomore pitcher
Josi Ervin combined to toss 14 scoreless innings and only surrendered six total hits against the MEC's third-highest average offense. It was the first doubleheader shutout since Concord locked down Bluefield State last March.

HITTING HER STRIDE
Outside of the Charleston series, Morgan's bat has heated up in the heart of the CU order. The King George, Va. native has reached base in 14 out of the last 16 games and had a nine-game hitting streak heading into game two versus Glenville State Wednesday. During the streak, Morgan had five games where she tallied more than one hit and set a new career-high with four hits in a 12-7 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. On the season, Morgan is batting .349 with an OPS of .771 and has driven in 14 runs, tied for third on the squad. Additionally, she has been active on the base paths, swiping seven stolen bases in nine attempts.

Mahailey Nicholson came around to score on a Yellow Jackets error to put the Mountain Lions on the board, 2-1. Then, junior outfielder
Alina Giles lined a ball to deep center field for an RBI double to knot the game heading into the seventh. In the top of the seventh, junior catcher/utility
Gianna Sloan-Lebron singled to right field and came all the way around to score the go-ahead run on another West Virginia State error and led to the 3-2 win. WVSU prevailed in game two, forcing the fourth consecutive doubleheader split between the Yellow Jackets and Mountain Lions dating back to 2023.
