Concord Finishes Sixth at MEC Spring Invite

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team placed sixth at the Mountain East Conference Spring Invite held at Berry Hills Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
 
As a team, the Mountain Lions posted rounds of 331 and 319 for a total of 650 in two trips around the course.
 
Freshman Kelly Pimenov II and senior Indiana Eades were the best individual finishers for CU at the event, tying for 26^th place with a total of 159 (+19).
 
Pimenov rebounded from an 81 in round one to fire a 78 in round two and tie for CU's best 18-hole total at the tournament. In round one, he scored par on six consecutive holes to begin the front nine. On day two, he sank a pair of birdies on the par-5 ninth and par-4 15^th to cap off his final round.
 
Eades started off the event strong, making par on seven out of nine holes on the back nine for a 36 that led to a first-round score of 78. In round two, Eades recovered from a 44 on the front nine with another 36 on the back to post an 80 in the final round.
 
Senior Peyton Watts finished 39th in the field with 168 strokes (+23) across rounds one and two. After scoring an 85 day one he finished the MEC Spring Invite with a 78, his second-lowest card of the year that included a birdie on the par-4 sixth.
 
Other scorers in the field for Concord included freshman Jonah Willson with a two-day total of 169 (+29) and senior Jacob Chittaphong with a 177 (+37).
 
The Mountain Lions are back in action April 7 and 8 at Oglebay Resort and Golf Club for the West Liberty Invitational.
