CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Concord University men's track & field team wrapped the two-day 49er Classic Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on the campus of Charlotte.
Concord's top performances came in the 10,000-meter run with top 10 finishes from senior
Logan Zuchelli and sophomore
Braden Ward. Zuchelli clocked 31:13.27 to finish seventh. Ward was two spots back in ninth in a personal-record time of 31:16.48.
Freshman
Luke Davis scored a top-10 finish in the decathlon as he scored 5,384 points and placed eighth. Among the highlights for Davis were 728 points in the 100-meter dash (11.62 seconds) and 635 points in the long jump (6.22 meters). Fellow freshman
Tobi Adebulu racked up 3,931 points to place 12
th in the decathlon. He tallied 575 points in the high jump (1.74 meters) and another 495 points in the 100-meters (12.84 seconds).
Freshman
Brandon Canaday was eighth in the 3,000-meter run as he clocked 9:11.59. Senior
Zach Wilson was just outside the top 10 with an 11
th-place showing as he crossed in 9:15.93. Sophomore
Garrett Hatcher (23
rd/9:46.059) and senior
Bryce Legg (24
th/9:50.05) logged top-25 finishes.
CU's 4x400-meter relay of senior
Ian Gardner and the freshmen trio of
Garrett Kinder,
Aaron Miller and
Brady Prior finished ninth in 4:22.13. In the 400-meter dash, Gardner placed 17
th with a time of 49.77 seconds while Prior was 23
rd, crossing the line in 50.25 seconds. Additionally, Prior notched a career-best time of 22.41 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, seniors
Luke Ruhnke (15
th/12:53.58) and
Madoc Lathroum (15
th/14:45.15) were in the top 20.
Senior
George Acuna III ran a career-best time of 1:04.24 in the 400-meter hurdles, and sophomore
AJ Skeens did the same in the 1,500-meter run (4:09.50).
The Mountain Lions are back in action March 28-29 at the Dr. Jack Toms Invite hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
